Angkor What?

Earlier this year, Shannon and I decided to take a trip together to a place that neither of us would have gone on her own. After not much debate we decided on Vietnam. However, when we went to book our trip online, the Vietnam trip offered by the tour group we wanted to try was full on the dates we wanted. So, a couple phone calls and emails later we decided on the trip entitled, "Road to Angkor." This trip included Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. We were thrilled.

I have to admit that I didn't really make a connection between the name of the trip and the reason it had that name. It was probably the 3rd day into the trip that I figured it out. I, however, did not admit this to anyone. Only after other tour mates had expressed their exhilaration in anticipation in seeing this "Angkor Wat" did Shannon and I confess to each other that we'd never heard of this thing before this trip. We decided to express our excitement in seeing the "Wat" as well. Had either of us known how amazing the "Wat" and all of the other "Wats" were going to be, we would've shared that same excitement from the start.

Thus began a trip of discoveries full of beauty, poverty, adventure, and, of course, Angkor Wat.
